Master Your Content Marketing
One thing that separates the men from the boys in content marketing is the art of delivering consistent yet useful content. To become a master at content marketing, you must understand a few things and drill down into exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
In today’s internet marketing era you want to deliver fresh content, with a specific purpose. Because it’s not enough to just write a blog post, produce a video or distribute a podcast here and there. But you need to consistently deliver fresh new content to your target market with a great content marketing strategy if you expect to experience success.
In in this article, I’ll share some simple content marketing principals and strategies to help you master your content marketing. Keep in mind as you start using these strategies to generate traffic for your business or website, that you must commit to the process. Because content marketing is an excellent way to expand your business, create brand awareness, generate leads and sales and create authority in your industry.
Keep in mind, it will take some time to build your audience. Once you do you’ll experience not only increased sales but also build a loyal following.
The success or lack thereof with your content strategy will be discovered over the course of time. Becuase, once you create a fantastic piece of content the hard work has just begun. I will get into that in a bit, but let us dive into the process.
DEFINE YOUR OBJECTIVE
Before you type the first word, shoot a video, share your image on Instagram, write a post on Facebook you need to set a clear objective. The goal is quite simple, what is it that you are trying to accomplish? Below are some common objectives for anyone that publishes content.
- Create Brand Awareness
- Grow an e-mail subscriber list
- Increase sales and conversions
When defining your goals, it’s essential for you to understand what the end game is when preparing to create and your published content. What I have found to be true is that many people do not have a method to their madness with content creation. This reminds me of someone throwing something against a wall and hoping for it will stick. So whatever you do, be sure to clearly define your objective before putting in the work of creating your next masterpiece.
When creating content, there is a decision-making process that you must go through. One of the first questions you need to ask yourself is, what type of content will you create? In case you are not sure of content types here are a few to consider.
- Text copy, this could be articles or social posts.
A cool tip with content creation is that you can put them together. For example, you can write an article and put a video within the article. You can also link an audio, and add images to your content.
There are many combinations and ways to connect and intertwine your content. Another consideration is that some of your audience may respond more to written text, while others may respond to videos, and others may react to audios or images.
I connect more than one piece of content together often. When doing this I like to call it the “whip effect.” It’s amazing, and you should give it a try sometime!
PUBLISH YOUR CONTENT
There are many ways to distribute content, and here we will discuss a few publishing strategies. Perhaps you just completed an article or blog post, and all that’s left to do now is hit the publish button right? Not quite, but from the minute you go live the article may be “published,” but it’s here that the real work starts.
From this point, your primary job is to distribute the content to your audience.
The primary strategy that you may be using is to share your article with your email subscribers. From there, you may share it across your social platforms. From this point, roll up your sleeves and distribute your content everywhere so you can meet the objective that you have set out to accomplish.
To improve your publishing efforts there are many tools that are available to help you. My personal favorite for scheduling and analytics across platforms is the Buffer App. Feel free to check it out, it will simplify your life once you get the hang of it.
When measuring results, make sure that you pay close attention to the numbers. Obviously, you want to receive clicks, likes, comments, and shares. Always refer to your objective, so you can measure if your content is delivering or not.
For example, if your objective is to grow your subscriber list and you’re not getting new leads, take a look at your content, and your audience. Determine what needs adjusting and make adjustments.
Another way to get better results is to capitalize on social media. In my opinion, social media is a powerhouse when it comes to getting your message across.
Quick tip, when using social media, especially Facebook capitalize on groups and influencers. Influencers will help expedite your results, and their audience will start to see you as an authority figure over time. Groups are also an incredible gathering place for fresh leads, so be sure to tap into groups.
In closing, implement a robust content strategy and execute it with consistency. But keep in mind that it may take some time for results to manifest because content creation is a long term investment.
As you stay consistent results will begin to come in, producing quality traffic that will become raving fans, and your raving fans will become loyal customers.
